Christmas Concert

For the last month me and four other students had to memorize Christmas Concert lines. I played a eight year old girl named Kim. The setting of the story: Kim's parents (Alexis and Brendin) went to Saskatoon to do some last minute Christmas shopping. Kim was getting very worried when her parents aren't there yet. Grandpa decides to tell Kim Christmas stories to keep her from worrying. In the end Kim's parents got back safely. There was ten little plays that made up the story...

For the evening show the gym was packed there was people everywhere standing and even sitting on the floor!

Snow Day!

On Monday Dec. 14, 2008, it was so cold outside the Prairie South School buses didn't run. That means it was colder than minus 40, that is just scary! My mom is a bus driver so she didn't have to drive the bus. We hung out inside all day long because my mom wouldn't let me go outside. My sister and I played games and had fun, but I wanted to go to school. I always want to stay home but when we have to, I rather go to school.

S.A.V.E.

In the first two months of school our class entered a poster contest. SAVE is short for Students Against Violence Everywhere, so we were doing a poster about bullying. The grades K-3 did getting along. The grades 4-5 did anti bullying and some of the grade 5's did cyber bullying. Grades 6-8 did cyber bullying. Four people in my class won prizes! Daniel and I won for the anti bullying. Daniel won 3rd place and $5, I got 2nd place and I got $10 in prize money to The Oak and Rose Book Shoppe

Roping

Here is a video of me roping... I rope every Sunday at an indoor arena.

Roping

Every Sunday through the Winter I go down to roping. When we get down there first there is a practice until 3:00. After that we have a jackpot, that is where you put in money to rope... If you catch, then you could either get points or money. Points is when you catch in your point run. If you catch one foot you get one point and if you catch two feet you get two points. It is very fun!!! I can't wait until Sunday!!! Here is a video!!!

Parent Teacher Interveiws

On November 20, 2008, I had the first term P.T.I.... I was worried when it was my turn but when i went in my teachers had nothing bad to say about me... before I went in my sister had hers. I got to play on the laptops for half an hour!!! At the end of my interview my dad said "Your Grounded," but he was just being silly.... Like he always is!!!

Bullying

Today Nov. 20, 2008 our class had a presentation. A RCMP Officer came to our school to teach us how to stand up to a bully. He made a list of things that bullies do...

Here is what the list said:

1. There is something called Physical Bullying.

2. There is something called Social Bullying

3. There is something called Verbal Bullying.

It also said that bullies don't accidentally bully someone, it is on purpose. Bullies sometimes be a bullies to impress their friends, or because they are being bullied themselves...

I learned a lot about bullying today!!!

Rememberance Day Ceremony

On Friday Nov. 7, 2008, our school had our annual Remembrance Day Ceremony!!! It was shorter than all of the years before, but it was still good... It started out with a speech and then the carrying of the wreaths... When we sang 'Oh Canada' two of the people in my class did the sign language!!! It was a beautiful ceramony... I think that our school did a great job!

Career Ed workshop with Mrs. Lothian

On Nov. 5, 2008 our class went to a workshop. The workshop was about your future career. We used the Macs to do a test. At the end of the test it told you some possibilities of what you might want to be when you grow up. At the end of my test all of my listings had something to do with agriculture. I had a blast, hopefully we can do it again...

Arthur Slade

On Nov. 4, 2008 the grade fives and sixes gathered in the library to see Mr. Slade. Mr. Slade is a Fiction book writer. Arthur Slade read the first chapters of three of his books. I think that he is an excellent author. In his life he wrote over twenty books. Not all of them have been published though. He wrote a book called "Monsterology," he said that him and his illustrator went to see Dracula. He remembered to ask Dracula if he ate left. Dracula said "Yes I ate I'll be good for two hours." Arthur was glad that meant that they had two hour to talk to Dracula. In the end Dracula finally said "It has been 2 1/2 hours and I'm hungry." So the writer ended up to be faster. Arthur ran for his dear life...

REMEMBER THAT ARTHUR IS A FICTION WRITER!!!

Leaf Art

For the last two weeks our class has been working on leaf art. Mine is red and has maple leafs on it. Here is a picture of it. I think it turned out pretty good. Hope you like it. How we did this was we had a leaf and copied the markings and shape, then we put little circles inside of it. That is what made it look so cool.

Halloween Dance

On Friday October 31, 2008, we had a Halloween Dance. It was my first dance because I'm in grade five. Some of our classes skelotons were put up on the big hoop, there was glowsticks in there bodies. There was five ur six snowballs. We did The Chicken Dance, The Maccorina, Squat Dance, and many more. It was so much fun, I can't wait untill the next one.

Red Sky

On Oct. 28 there was a play that came to our school. It was called Raven Stole The Sun, by Red Sky Theatre. It was a wonderful play. The characters were awesome actors. At the end, they told us a lot of cool stuff. I recomend this play it was awesome. The funniest part was went the daughter swallowed the pine needle and went to bed. Her stoumach grew larger and larger. When she woke up a baby poped out. There was one thing fermiliar they reconized it. After they found out that the baby was Raven!

Art Gallery 2

On Wed. October 29, 2008, our class went to the Art Gallery. The artist was Beverly Tosh, the exhibit was called War Brides. War Brides are women who married soliders, in the second world war. In this exhibit there was many painting of these women. On one of the walls there was a whole bunch of planks that had woman on them. All of these women kind of looked a like because all of these pictures were on there wedding day. They were all smiling. I had to go home so I didn't get to paint a self portrait. I learned a lot, and saw a lot of beautiful paintings. This is a picture of the boards.

Papier Mache

I finished my horse but I forgot to put ears on it. I painted it brown, it's a little bay. It turned out pretty good. In the end it turned out well!

Thanksgiving

On October 10, 2008, our school had an annual Thanksgiving Dinner. The grade sevens and eights were the chefs. It was delicious. Our whole gym was covered in people.

SCES

On October 14, a group called SCES came and taught us Hip Hop and Music. In Hip Hop we learned a routine. In the music class we learned to make music out of pretty much nothing.

Election 2008

On October 14, 2008, our school had an election. The grade 3/4s ran it they did an awesome job! The Consevetives won by 20 votes. We voted at pole four. Election!!

Ukulele

In the last month my class has been learning how to play the ukulele. I learned so much about ukuleles. It is so much fun playing new songs. This is me I was not looking at the camera

Skeletons

In the last two weeks our class has been working on skeletons. We made these because we're doing the skeleton in health class. It was so much fun! This is a picture of me and my skeleton.

Papier Mache

On Friday Oct. 3 the six grade 5's did papier mache in the afternoon. The grade 6's were gone biking. After first recess we started setting up. In the afternoon the other grade 5 class came and made it with us. I made mine look like a horse head. It was so fun, I can't wait until we paint them!!!

Terry Fox Run

Tuesday Sept. 23, 2008 our school had our annual Terry Fox Run. We went down to Spring Creek Park and ran or walked the track. After we all got timbits.

Kayaking and Hiking!

On Friday Sept. 19, 2008, the grade 5 class went Kayaking and Hiking. There was two groups, group 1 and group 2, group 1 went kayaking in the morining. I was in group 2 we went Hiking first. I had so much fun!

I Did Well

At the fall fair my sister and I won three first prize ribbons, two second ribbons, one third place ribbon, and three participant ribbons.

Open House

Tonight Sept. 11,2008, our school is having a open house. There is going to be a Jolly Jump and a BBQ. It is going to be lots of fun!!!

Fall Fair!

This year me and my sister entered lots of items. We entered a potato family, a sunflower, two unusual potatos, two funiest carrots, a long carrot, two largest potatoes and two original photographs. It was fun getting all my entries ready!!

3 Hopes

I hope this year :

1. I want to rope in the Big Muddy's.
2. I want my moms horse, Ben to turn out.
3. I want to have a fun year!

GPS Lesson

Today Sept. 9/08, we learned about GPS. It stands for Global Positioning System. Mr. Shareski came in to teach us how they work. It was so fun. We learned how to read Lataude and Longitude, on a GPS.

Art Gallery

Today September 3, we went to the Moose Jaw Art Gallery. We saw the exhibit Dorthy Knowles. The pictures were beautiful. She tried so many different kinds of paints and ideas. After we went into the back and painted. It was a fun time.

Horses

I have 5 horses including the pony. Buddy is a 13 year old

gray gelding. He is a perfect horse. Ben is a 7 year old paint

gelding. Dusty is a 3 year old bay mare. She is being broke.

Buick is a 24 year old buckskin gelding. Anyone can ride

him.

My Pony

I have a miniature pony. His name is Flash, he is a soral. He is 1 1/2 years old and so adorable! When we got him he wasn't even halter broke. I went down to the barn every day. He started to trust me. When he was 1, we started riding him! We rode him just about every day.

My Favorite Book I Read This Summer

I read two books this summer! They are both books from the series of Heartland. I started reading these books in grade 4. I am now on book 14 out of 21. Heartland is a series of books about a teenager who's mom died and she went through some tough times. She works with horses like shes magic.

The Best Movie I Saw This Summer.

Have you ever felt dizzy from laughing? CAUTION!! You will feel that way in this movie. The best movie I saw this summer was RV. It is a comedy about a family that goes on a RV trip and it is a crazy ride... In the end the family finds out that the dad was going on a work trip. He ended up loosing his old job but, getting a new one. I think you will love this movie and laugh so much your head will spin. Be aware!
